How to setup my own affiliate system for my website?

Is there any program or way that I could set up my own simple affiliate program.
I have a website and I want to set up an affiliate program on it so I can employ people I personally know like family and friends. So it’s very informal and how professional the program looks or how professional the way is doesnt matter. I want to be able to pay them for how many people they send to me, but also a way to figure how much of that traffic converted to sales. I only want to keep track of about 3 people and all I really want to know is how many people they send and how many sales the make me. I don’t want to go through ClickBank or CJ or anyone like that. I want it to be completely independent. Anyone have any advice?
(p.s. please dont spam my question, I realize that this type of question invites alot of spam so please don’t answer unless your answer is actually related to my question)

*in after spam*

If you don’t have the PHP knowledge to set up a cookie-based tracking system, you could create 3 separate redirect pages point to your main page, and use google analytics to track your visitors. If you put tracking code on each page on your site, you can set up goal points which trigger when someone reaches a certain page, you can then use the entry page to determine who gave you the custom.

If you do have PHP knowledge or are willing to learn, the generic method goes like this-

1) when a user views your page, check their cookies for an affiliate id. (ie $_COOKIES['affil'] variable)
http://www.tizag.com/phpT/phpcookies.php

1.1) if it exists, we do nothing

1.2) If it does not exist, we get the info on who directed them here. We can do this two ways, use the HTTP query data (the stuff after a question mark like index.php?affil=bob) or by the HTTP referrer (the page that linked to your site).
HTTP query data is stored in $_GET['affil']
see http://www.php-mysql-tutorial.com/php-tutorial/php-variables.php
The referring page is stored in $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] which could use this if no affil is set, man page here-
http://unix.cms.gre.ac.uk/code/php/examples/http_referer_op.php
(nb; yes, referrer was spelled incorrectly in the HTTP standards! It’s not my error)

You could also use the referrer to save search engines as unpaid affilliates, save their search keywords too or whatever.

Now we have the affilliate, we use setcookie to save this to the user’s computer so that next time they visit the site we know who’s customer they are. Make sure it’s set to expire in 10 years or something similar.

******
The code above is included in every php page on the site, so it doesn’t matter which page they land on. remember that setting cookies goes in the header data, so must be done before any data is sent back to the client. even a single empty line before "<?php" will cause saving cookies to fail (attempting to change headers after they have been sent)
******

2) When a user makes a purchase, we get the information from $_COOKIES['affil'] and save this info to a file or a database. You might want to remove the cookie or set it to "none" or something at the same time, so that you only pay your affilliates for a customer’s first purchase.

what are the best ad affiliate programs out?

besides google, clickbank, amazon, ebay, and overstock; what are good programs to use?
please help,

I spend so much time reading on line and talking to people about affiliate programs. In my opinion the best affiliate program is Ken Evoy’s Site Build it! It makes it easy for you to create your own website even if you don’t have technical knowledge at all. They have really good tutorial step by step and it helps you to optimize the pages for the main search engines. It teaches you internet marketing and most important how to be successful. You earn a commission on every purchase by that customer for life and the pay good commissions too. In my opinion they are one of the best affiliate on line. You can read more about them and see some examples : http://buildit.sitesell.com/Tomas2.html

Good Luck to You

How do I get affiliate sales?

Hello I just started a affiliate program for my website on clickbank. In a week I have about 30 affiliates but I still have no sells. Its an ebook on how to make money. I need help making sales I thought that my affiliates would be able to generate sales but it doesn’t look like they are doing a good job, I have offered the highest commission and an incentive’s, along with banners and even excerpts from the book. I know the product is a good product because many people can use it. Are there any companies out there that will reach sales goals for me, without me coming out my pocket immediately. PPC is expensive within itself so that’s not an option for me. Help me out please.

www.lucimarketing.com Home page
http://www.lucimarketing.com/ebook.html This is the affiliate portal

Hi Fierra,

I just did a search on clickbank for fierra23 and your offer was there but there wasn’t a pitch page. Your home page is offline as well. Are they both the same? Your banners are really bright with text thrown onto them.

So take this lightly, ok. I don’t see a website, so there is nothing to buy. If and when there is a website that appears, you are going to want really good adcopy (I mean you should want to buy your own product after reading your own product page. You should test and prove your conversion rate because good affiliate don’t want to market low converting products. There isn’t a product price or $/sale to attract the better marketers. Your banners should include 125 x 125 pixel ads (lots of wordpress uses them these days). Also, try using higher quality banners that look good and sell your product and not yourwebsite.com.

If I were you, I would go to an affiliate forum and get advice from members in the forums as well. They will usually give you pretty good advice.

Good Luck. I really hope you product gets off the ground and does well.

Clickbank Affiliate Secrets Revealed | Secure Accounts Spy!

How He’s stealing your Affiliate commissions at: http://www.TheFatRichPigs.com

from ClickBank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction and other affiliates networks accounts. He’s getting away with it too because it’s fully legal Secret but not many can get their hands on his tools… He spies on the biggest internet marketers campaigns and duplicates/destroys them overnight. He even built an algorithm to search and collect 1000’s of affiliates from any vendor or product ID including their email addresses – it’s automated affiliate recruitment on steroids!

The Fat Rich Pig that he is, he made his money in various ways, still makes tons daily, and now has decided to let go of these dirty but legal tools to a few internet marketers that are in the underground loop or his inner circle. Lucky you – you’re in my circle and you may not know me too well yet but after you see these tools and knowledge bases you’re going to thank the greater powers that you ARE on my list :)

I was lucky enough to get a trial copy of this yesterday before it went to market, there are only 1000 full versions of these being distributed before they make it a monthy membership site or a limited use one time fee… Basically – You plug in a vendors name/id, and it instantly pulls up a list of their affiliates (some with emails!), a list of all the campaigns it finds from these affiliates (you see them in a real browser), all the keywords and market stats plus unique resources all in one sneaky tool.

I’ve heard people talking about fluctuation, sudden drops in sales, no stability with campaigns or plain out assumptions that their commissions are being hi-jacked… This is why – you have no idea how much competitive intelligence there is built around you. What are YOU doing to learn about YOUR competitors? How much value would you see in having a detailed list of any affiliates campaigns for any product? If you’re a vendor or thinking of becoming one – how much value do you see in auto-recruiting affiliates from similar products to yours? How many would you recruit?

I know you’re eager to make it in this industry, we all are. When a tool comes along to help you fast-track your campaign development, speed up your competitive intel and automate your affiliate recruitment with one click… Two things happen – 1. Many vendors and affiliates suffer 2. Many vendors and affiliates profit. ok three – Some won’t have a clue what just happened. I know YOU are one of the smart ones, and are going to go see this for yourself so I bid you a successful day and see you at the top!

See why the buzz is so strong on this – http://www.TheFatRichPigs.com . If this does make you huge – don’t forget about the little guys or where you heard about this ;)

To Your Fast-Tracked Success,

What’s the step-by-step process for making money online with Affiliate Marketing like ClickBank?

Having been exploring the internet marketing field for the last 10 years, I am still very frustrated not knowing how exactly to make money online with Affiliate Programs like ClickBank or Commission Junction that’s Affiliate Marketing.
Please, reply to me only in case you are already making tons of money as a Super Affiliate.
In addition, please do regard me as an absolute beginner to Affiliate Marketing as I have never ever made any money with Affiliate Marketing at all.
Obviously, the main reason I am interested in the Affiliate Marketing field is the fact that I still do not have my own products or services to sell.
What I have realized is that there is a huge amount of scepticism among many potential Affiliates (including myself) when it comes to the important question whether or how I as an ambitious Affiliate can trust the Merchant or how I can be assured that the Merchant will morally and honestly be paying to me (or into my PayPal account) every time I refer them to a customer who then buys the Merchant’s product from my Affiliate link.
Subsequently, my main questions are:

How to research into, find and then select a legitimate Affiliate Program?

How to make sure that the Mechant will really link my PayPal account correctly and properly, so that I know he or she is a genuine and professional person who won’t be cheating or stealing away my hardly earned commissions?

How and where can I create a simple web page (landing page or squueze page) with my affiliate link? Please, once again regard me as an absolute beginner and tell me the step by step process of how to set up or create my Affiliate web page as I really do not know how to.

How to ensure the necessary traffic of potential buyers to my Affiliate web site so that I really start seeing some concrete results that’s making money online? If it’s Pay Per Click that is a solution, please guide me step by step on how to create successful money making Google Adwords campaigns. Or, do you suggest anything better than PPC?

Once again, I am only interested to learn from experienced money making Affiliates and Super Affiliates who have been making lots of money from the Affiliate Programs that they have joined.

Please, do not try to sell me here any cheap ebooks or similar downloadable information products with hyped and long sales copies, because I won’t be wasting my money on these any longer.

If you’re a genuine and successful Affiliate Marketer, please feel free to reach me on my Skype: bruno.bb100

In advance many thanks for your kind help and advices.

Best wishes for the New Year!!

Hi there,

I find it interesting to post such a question on something as public as Yahoo Answers: I wonder how many people will post dozens of affiliate links to GRQ programs etc!

Personally, my experience of affiliate marketing is making a little income through Amazon Associates (laptops and books) and a Wholesale Directory. In every case, the pages with the links on weren’t especially promoting the product in question. You could call this ‘passive affiliate marketing’. I did have a lot of traffic though until I sold up.

My current website, I’m focusing a bit more on active promotion where I feature and talk about the product in question. That way, I can shift higher-ticket items – some of my favourite affiliate programs I’ve featured here: http://www.how-to-build-a-website.co.uk/free-to-join-affiliate-programs.html

I know you’re not going to like the paid material, but Affilorama offers a free level of membership which is quite good. They do promote their premium level of membership ($67 monthly!) and try and entice you in with one-time offers etc. but have a look at the free program. http://www.affilorama.com/

I’ve also got rights to distribute this eBook: http://www.how-to-build-a-website.co.uk/support-files/affiliate-masters-course.pdf – It’s 152 pages long, and it helped me focus on the affiliate marketing strategy for my current site.

Can anyone suggest a good affiliate marketing programme?

I am very interested in building a web site and going into affiliate marketing, can anyone suggest a good scheme, also what are your views on clickbank?

Thanks.

One of the best I have come across is SiteBuildIt! as you can promote this from your site no matter what the subject. The commissions are excellent and they have a lifetime cookie which means you earn your commission no matter how long after they visited your site that they actually buy.
Also very important is the fact that the product they are selling, the SiteBuildIt! web building programme, is an excellent product.

You can sign up for it here:-

Or if you want to learn a bit more about affiliate marketing in general then take their free e-mail course:-

I have tried clickbank but not with much success, I find all their products a bit too pushy for my liking

I would very much appreciate some help!?

How do I link my Ad Blaster Site to my clickbank affiliate program site? I’ve been going crazy trying to figure it out. Just don’t know how to link the two together. Thank you!!
With all due respect – that wasn’t what I was asking; it’s not a scam.

You link one page to another with an anchor tag:
<a href="the other page">words to click on</a>

How do you find clickbanks payment system – do you ever get paid?

I made a sale recently as an affiliate of the ‘clickbank’ system, which for the uninitiated is a site which promotes digital only products (eBooks etc). An affiliate is someone who promotes the goods of others and gets a commission for each sale.

After noticing the sale, I queried clickbanks payment method which i never really looked into when i signed up as I am sure many don’t!

Anyway, this was the reply I received from clickbank.com

"Thank you for your inquiry. You have not been issued a check because your
account has not yet met our "Customer Distribution Requirement", which states
your account must reflect sales made with 5 or more different credit card
numbers, including at least one Visa card, and one MasterCard in order to be
eligible to receive a check. PayPal and e-check purchases do not count toward
the minimum.

This requirement is in place to help prevent affiliates from abusing the
clickbank affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of
collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own ClickBank purchases.

Please note that once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, the
full balance from your account will be paid on the next check issuing date.
Also, please keep in mind that you only need to meet the Customer Distribution
Requirement one time per account (not per check).

You may review our accounting policies by following the link below:

clickbank.com/accounting.html"

end message

This reply really shocked me. If I am understanding this correctly, if everyone I sell to chooses to pay by American Express, or any other of the many alternatives to Visa, Mastercard, or they pay via paypal and echeck etc, then I don’t get paid……….ever..Is this correct??

They say they do this to prevent affiliate fraud but why do they need to go to such extremes to prevent affiliate fraud? If the affiliate buys items and keeps them..so what the company made a sale right? But if the affiliate sells, then requests a refund…then yes that is sneaky BUT only if the affiliate got to keep the sales commission after the refund was made, which with clickbank they don’t! The affiliate has the refund deducted from their account…at least this is my understanding.

So why then all these weird ‘exclusions’ as to why you can’t be paid, or paid regularly.

So my question to you as an affiliate for clickbank, is do you ever get paid?
Source:http://www.writersadvice.blogspot.com

Well, Visa and Master-card are widely used cards. You will probably find a client eventually.

The fact that they want at least 5 different numbers (Or clients) is not to make sure you are doing it to get a discount. They could simply exclude you from the system. They have your details otherwise you will never get paid.

The biggest reason for doing so is to gain more clients.

Example:

Take 1000 affiliates. Most people signed up in whim. Only half the people will indeed try and sell an item. Then they find out they need to sell 5 items to get paid. Only 1% of these will actually go further and do it (Oh, and that 1% is a very optimistic estimate).

Wanna calculate: 1000 potential sales people, only half stays on.
Got 500 people left. All of them sell 1 item
500 Items SOLD
Only 1% will continue to sell the other 4,
5 people selling in total of 20 items.
520 items SOLD.
They paid only 5 people and each for 5 items.

They have sold 495 items, without paying a single person.

Of course, this company would rather have everyone selling a single item (perhaps 2, 3 or even 4) and then give up. Like you are doing (Or at least sound like you are doing) and they end up selling all products, without paying a single sales agent.

It’s called cutting costs. Drastic times brings the best up in some of us…
